Effects of Depression
Depression is a common mental
disorder whose root varies person to person. It occurs depending on the
experiences of individuals which can be about their relationship, social environment or anything else triggering it, and it causes
them feelings of sadness. Coping with depression is very difficult for both
themselves and their families because it is not easy to overcome. It may be
also difficult to understand whether you're depressed or not; however, it is
obvious that there are some effects of depression which can be alcohol and
substance abuse, problems at work or school and loneliness on their lives.
First, alcohol and substance
abuse are prevalent among people who are suffering with depression. It gives
temporarily a feeling of relief from state of mind brought about by depression;
therefore, people with depression tend to overuse them. Inasmuch as they feel
better using those substances, they continue to repeat that behavior. In view
of much more repetitions, they cannot get out of control not coping with their
self-control and they are increasingly addicted to them. Thus, they should see
the doctor in order to be implemented the treatment required and to get rid of
those illegal drugs in a short time.
Second, problems at work or
school are another effect of depression. They can have frequently loss of
self-confidence and self-esteem on account of the fact that they think that
they do not have enough strength to deal with any other things.
Additionally, they can confront sleeping problems as they have difficulty in
inability to sleep or waking up much earlier than usual. Therefore, they
have loss of productivity at their work or school and they cannot concentrate
well on tasks taking too long. Those factors cause people with depression to be
lazy and complacent.
Third, another effect of
depression on people’s lives is loneliness. They are not delighted in things
that are usually pleasurable or interesting and they stay aloof and reticent
for offerings from their friends. Besides, they'd rather sit at home and they
go into much more depression because of gloomy feelings. Despite the fact that
they sometimes avoid from other people or their close friends, they feel
helplessness and hopelessness and need a shoulder to cry on. Since they
consider themselves as a killjoy, they can have strong feelings of guilt or
worthlessness, sometimes even suicide or death.
In brief, people have some
impacts which are alcohol and substance abuse, problems at work or school and
loneliness as a result of depression, which can be quite painful for them. As
soon as people realize some medical symptoms such as fatigue or becoming
oppressive occurring in them, they need to see the doctor immediately. If they
ignore this disorder fabricating an excuse, they cannot have an opportunity to
recover from it.
